Hello there, I'm Merli. Nice to meet you!
My name is actually Alessandra, but everyone calls me by my surname since it's shorter, and I've grown fond of it. Merli in Italian means "blackbirds", hence the name of the blog! I struggled for weeks trying to find the perfect name when it was right before my eyes.
Anyway, I'm a book nerd and the mum of a little hobbit girl. Reading and writing have always been passions of mine (along with many others hehe), but it wasn't until middle school that I realised that one day, maybe, I could write a book too. Since then it's been a try-fail cycle of writing bits of stories here and there, and then hate what I'd written cause it was "childish". But of course, how could I possibly like what I'd written the year before when I was growing up so fast. Now, being 23, I feel more confident and I have this book in mind that really wants to be written. So in October, I applied to a creative writing course, and now I want to challenge myself a little bit more.
I'm an Italian Anglophile, and for years I've wanted a place where I could write in this beautiful language. Somewhere I could improve my writing skills while having fun and meeting new people, so I finally decided to start this blog! Here I'll ramble about books, writing, DIY's, food, and life. I'm excited to share my passions with you, and I hope you'll join me on this journey.
